Clinical Supervision for Eating Disorder Treatment

Relational, Specialized Supervision with a CEDS-C (iaedp™)

I offer clinical supervision for licensed and pre-licensed clinicians who treat eating disorders and disordered eating, grounded in a relational, strengths-based approach. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado, meet Colorado state supervisor requirements, and am a CEDS-C (Certified Eating Disorders Specialist-Consultant) through the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp™).

My supervision style is collaborative, thoughtful, and supportive, while remaining clinically rigorous and ethically grounded. I aim to create a space where you feel both challenged and genuinely supported as you grow your confidence and competence in eating disorder work.

This service is well-suited for clinicians seeking depth, clarity, and sustainability in their practice—whether you are newer to eating disorder treatment or an experienced provider refining your specialty.

About Me as a Supervisor

I bring nearly 16 years of experience treating eating disorders to my supervision work, and teaching and mentoring clinicians has become one of the most meaningful parts of my professional life. I genuinely love the role of supervisor and consultant—supporting clinicians as they grow in confidence, skill, and clarity is work I find deeply energizing and purposeful.

I have been supervising clinicians, including interns and LPCCs, within my group practice since 2019, and I have also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Colorado Denver. These roles have shaped a supervision style that is both structured and relational, grounded in theory while remaining highly practical and responsive to real-world clinical complexity.

I am also personally recovered from an eating disorder, which informs my work with humility, compassion, and a deep respect for the recovery process. While supervision remains focused on your clients and your professional development—not my story—this lived experience strengthens my commitment to ethical, hopeful, and sustainable eating disorder care.

I am especially passionate about helping clinicians develop a clinical style that feels authentic and values-aligned, rather than overly rigid or performative. Together, we pay close attention to countertransference, emotional responses, and identity development as a clinician, recognizing these as essential sources of information rather than obstacles to be avoided.

My goal is for supervision to feel like a space where you can think freely, ask hard questions, and grow into your own voice as an eating disorder clinician—while knowing you are well-supported and not alone in the work.

Who I Work With

Clinical supervision and consultation are available for:

  • Therapists treating eating disorders or disordered eating across outpatient or private practice settings
  • Clinicians pursuing CEDS certification hours through iaedp™
  • Colorado-based clinicians seeking supervision that meets state licensure and supervisor requirements
  • Providers expanding into eating disorder work who want competent, attuned guidance
  • Experienced clinicians seeking advanced consultation, ethical support, or burnout prevention

Supervision may be appropriate for professional counselors, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, social workers, and other mental health clinicians, depending on licensure regulations and scope of practice.

Clinical Philosophy & Supervision Lens

My supervision is informed by the same values that guide my clinical work. I approach supervision as a relationship—one that honors your existing strengths while supporting continued growth.

Key elements of my supervision philosophy include:

  • Strengths-based and collaborative: Building on what you already do well
  • HAES®-aligned and weight-inclusive: Centering health, dignity, and body autonomy
  • Trauma-informed: Attending to nervous system regulation, safety, and pacing—for both clients and clinicians
  • Developmentally responsive: Meeting you where you are in your professional journey
  • Ethically grounded: Supporting thoughtful risk assessment, boundaries, and scope of practice

I value curiosity, reflection, and honesty, and I welcome discussion of uncertainty, countertransference, and the emotional impact of eating disorder work.

Areas of Clinical Focus

Supervision is tailored to your caseload and goals. Common areas of focus include:

  • Assessment and diagnosis of eating disorders (AN, BN, BED, ARFID, OSFED)
  • Medical risk assessment and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Treatment planning across levels of care and step-down/step-up decisions
  • Evidence-based and evidence-informed approaches, including:
    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT-informed approaches)
    • Family-Based Treatment for Anorexia Nervosa (FBT-AN)
    • EMDR-informed trauma work within appropriate scope
  • Working with ambivalence, resistance, and treatment-interfering behaviors
  • Family involvement, attachment, and relational dynamics
  • Co-occurring concerns (trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, substance use)
  • Ethics, documentation, and risk management
  • Clinician sustainability, boundaries, and burnout prevention

Niche & Specialized Populations

I have particular experience and interest in supervising clinicians who work with:

  • Athletes navigating performance demands, injury, identity, and sport culture
  • Pre- and postpartum clients, including perinatal mental health and body image changes
  • Individuals and couples experiencing infertility, grief, and reproductive trauma

Supervision can support nuanced case conceptualization that integrates eating disorder treatment with these intersecting identities and stressors.

Supervision Structure & Logistics

  • Individual supervision (virtual)
  • Group supervision or consultation (when available)
  • Short-term case consultation or ongoing supervision

Supervision is offered via secure telehealth platforms. Frequency and format are determined collaboratively based on your licensure requirements, professional goals, and clinical workload.
