  Meet Hennessy

Hi, I’m Hennessy! I specialize in therapy for a variety of ages and concerns with an emphasis on meeting your individual needs and helping you live more authentically. Have you ever wanted to change the way you view yourself and your story? Or does it ever feel like the words that are being used to describe your life don’t align with your truth or hopes for yourself? My goal as your therapist is to help navigate these questions. I believe in gaining insight, exploring values and understanding how the world and systems impact you and your sense of self. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, managing neurodiversity or just navigating life, you can expect a compassionate, calming, playful, and non-judgmental space to explore what makes you, you!

I utilize play therapy to help support children and adolescents navigate a variety of concerns including divorce and family changes, neurodiversity, emotional regulation, anxiety and depression. If you have ever wanted to increase your child’s confidence, ability to understand the world, and tolerance for distress, play therapy is an evidenced-based practice to help support your child’s growth. Children deserve a space where they can process their emotions, struggles, and strengths through something that comes naturally to them, play! I incorporate a range of strategies to help children develop emotional regulation skills & explore emotional processing while simultaneously supporting your needs as a parent.

I earned my master’s degree from the University of Colorado Denver Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate. At Embrace Strength, I am supervised by Catherine S. Tilford, MA, NCC, LPC, CEDS. I utilize a variety of strength-based therapy modalities including Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help support your unique goals. I am currently in Phase 1 of receiving my Registered Play Therapist licence.

My experiences as a second-generation Mexican-American has made me passionate about working with diverse populations and giving back to my community. I am still very close with my three sisters and believe that families are an important part of every child’s development and long-term success. Outside of therapy, I love to spend time reading a book with my dog and cat (Bella and Oliver) or playing board games with my husband.

Therapy, whether for yourself or your child, can be a vulnerable process and I would be honored to be a part of your healing journey. If you are interested in setting up a session or just learning more about therapy and my practice, please reach out!
