Meet Ellie
Hi, I’m Ellie Lukela. I am a Child-Centered Play Therapist who works with children, adolescents, adults, and caregivers, grounded in an empowerment-based and relationship-centered approach. I believe in each person’s natural capacity to heal and grow, and that children communicate through play—it is their language. I also believe that meaningful healing happens within safe, connected relationships. In my work with children and adolescents, I use Child-Centered Play Therapy to provide a warm, accepting space where they can express big emotions, build regulation skills, and strengthen their sense of safety and self. I meet each child and teen where they are developmentally, honoring their unique experiences while fostering autonomy, resilience, and emotional growth. I have experience working with children navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral challenges, and life transitions, including within an elementary school setting where I collaborate with caregivers and educators to support meaningful, lasting change.
I partner closely with caregivers, offering empathy, clarity, and practical guidance so they feel confident supporting their child or teen at home. I view caregivers as essential to the healing process and strive to create collaborative, empowering relationships that extend growth beyond the therapy space.
In my work with individual adults, I approach therapy through a person-centered, attachment-based, and trauma-informed lens. I offer a nonjudgmental, supportive space where clients are met exactly where they are and are in the driver’s seat of their own process. I support clients in exploring their values, navigating life transitions and stress, and making meaningful changes that align with who they are and who they want to become.
With over three years of experience in the mental health field, including providing IASIS Neurofeedback, I bring a strong understanding of the nervous system and the impact of trauma. My work is rooted in attachment theory and trauma-informed care, supporting individuals and families in building stronger, more secure connections.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Metropolitan State University of Denver and my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (anticipated early May 2026). At Embrace Strength, I am supervised by Catherine S. Tilford, MA, NCC, LPC, CEDS-C.
I am excited to work with you as you take this next step in your journey!
